AFAO Briefing Paper: National Health & Hospitals Reform Commission

The final report of the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission was released on 27 July, 2009.

The National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission was established by the Rudd Government in February 2008, charged with producing a long-term plan for reforming the Australia’s health system in the context of rising healthcare costs, an ageing population, and the increasing burden of chronic disease.

The report has been widely anticipated and is expected to have a major influence on the health policy directions of the Rudd Government.

AFAO's work includes education, policy, advocacy and international projects. has prepared a briefing paper to inform its members about the contents of the Report. This briefing paper is attached.
