From the President's report by Gabe McCarthy:

The NAPWA mission statement describes our role as “championing the participation of HIV-positive people at all levels of the national HIV/AIDS response” to “build a positive future for people living with HIV/AIDS.” The year 2005–06 was a year in which we met this goal admirably, and did so while responding to changes, new challenges and old adversaries.

We commenced June 2005 with a range of activities still ongoing in the development of the HIV National Strategy Implementation Plan, as well as finalising of some research proposals covering HIV Living issues and a discussion paper focused on current and changing issues of complexity in HIV clinicalPertaining to or founded on observation and treatment of participants, as distinguished from theoretical or basic science. care and clinical research in Australia. The resulting reviews and presentations, starting with the launch of the discussion paper at the ASHMAustralasian Society for HIV Medicine.
